The USS Discovery is sent to evacuate an Akaali colony on an asteroid belt in the path of the DMA. A wrinkle is incurred when the Magistrate shows no interest in the fate of six prisoners who haven’t been released from their cells. Mr. Saru and Lt. Commander Stamets contend with an arrogant Federation scientist named Ruon Tarka as he tests a theory behind what, or who, is controlling the DMA.
