In the final episode of this retrospective on Star Trek: Discovery, we look at the series’ fifth season. Dr. Kovich assigns Captain Burnham and the crew a top-secret Red Directive mission. He wants them to investigate an ancient Romulan science vessel. It soon turns into a race across the galaxy against two couriers known as Moll and L’ak. They stole a Romulan puzzle box containing a journal linked to 24th-century scientists searching for Progenitor technology, which was used to seed life across the galaxy. Star Trek: Discovery comes to a close with “Life, Itself,” the final episode of its final season. Captain Michael Burnham follows Moll into the structure they found at Lagrange Point between two black holes. What they encounter is unimaginable, and they discover new information about the device she seeks. However, it does help Michael to make the most important decision of her life: whether or not to accept control of the Progenitor technology.
