For the most part, the acting in “Seventeen Seconds” is strong. Jonathan Frakes, Patrick Stewart and Gates McFadden, all deliver powerful performances. We’re given some two-person scenes where the theme of regret is highlighted. This episode has the responsibility of giving us answers to questions raised by this season’s story. As we predicted last week, “Disengage” answered some of the questions raised by “The Next Generation.” Picard was revealed to be the father of Beverly’s son. Worf was proven to be Raffi’s secret handler. It was a good thing that neither of these “mysteries” were drawn out for another week because doing so would have been an insult to the audience since they were so obvious.
