Star Trek: Discovery S4, E1 – “Kobayashi Maru”

With this additional weekly episode, we’re breaking down “Kobayashi Maru,” the Season Four premiere episode of Star Trek: Discovery.

In the episode we see an emboldened Federation rebuilding itself. The President is taking on a more public profile following the elimination of the threat from Emerald Chain, Starfleet Academy graduates its first class of cadets in more than a century, and Captain Michael Burnham and her Discovery crew are sent on a mission to recruit former Federation members back into the fold. But there is an unforeseen danger cutting a path of destruction through the galaxy like a hot knife through butter. Our heroes will be confronted by a mysterious space anomaly that destroys everything in its path.

Star Trek: Prodigy S1, E5 – “Terror Firma”

This week, we’re breaking down “Terror Firma” the fifth episode of Season 1 for Star Trek: Prodigy. Following that, we’ll recap the plot first and then discuss our reaction to the episode. Star Trek: Prodigy S1, E4 – “Dreamcatcher”

“Dreamcatcher,” episode four of Star Trek: Prodigy gives us a much-needed examination of the core characters. When the ship’s Janeway hologram encourages the Protostar’s crew to go on their first away mission to an unchartered and seemingly uninhabited M-Class planet. Dal is reluctant to take her advice, fearing that the Diviner might catch up to them. Janeway threatens to report their noncompliance to Starfleet Command which bring attention from another adult authority figure and Dal changes his mind. Star Trek: Prodigy S1, E3 – “Starstruck”

“Starstruck,” episode three of Star Trek: Prodigy, picks up where the premiere episodes left off. Dal and the motley crew of the USS Protostar are confronted with more than a few crises, simultaneously. Trouble is, all of them were self-inflicted thanks to an inability to take advice from an authority figure. It’s a good thing being sucked into a black hole with no hope of escaping can make you see more clearly, even it is a momentary change in behavior. Star Trek: Prodigy S1, E1 & E2 – “Lost & Found”

Today, we want to introduce you to the latest Star Trek series, Star Trek: Prodigy – an animated series developed to attract younger fans to the franchise. But don’t be fooled. There is a cinematic quality to everything in this show. The sophistication of the animation, music, and story structure of the two-part episode all were of a caliber higher than even our contemporary animated series.
