Star Trek: Starfleet Academy – “Vitus Reflux”

“Vitus Reflux” is another enjoyable teen drama story framed around the dual central themes of the importance of understanding one’s opponent and the value of collaborative strategy over individual ego. The episode’s backdrop is the rivalry between the newly-revived Starfleet Academy and its Burn-era counterpart, the War College. The tension between the two groups extends to their respective leaders, giving us a chance to explore how true leadership requires empathy and a focus on looking beyond surface-level conflict. Star Trek: Discovery Rewind – Season Three

In Season 3 of Star Trek: Discovery, Michael and the crew of the USS Discovery travel 930 years into the future, and the 3188 they encounter is not what they expected. The Federation is in a much-weakened state. A catastrophic event known as “The Burn” has eliminated nearly all of the dilithium supply. The loss of the critical resource for faster-than-light travel has crippled interstellar travel and plunged the galaxy into chaos.
