One of the oddest parts of Discovery’s ninth episode, “Terra Firma Part 1,” was the sudden and unexplained appearance of “Carl.”
Who in the universe is Carl!?!?
He resembles a short, Jewish male, roughly age 60+. What the Hell is he doing on the previously uninhabited planet of Dannus V in the Gamma Quadrant?
When we first meet him, he appears in a location near Michael and Georgiou that was devoid of anything but snow just moments before. He is seated in a Adirondack chair wearing a wool coat and a bowler hat smoking on a cigar. Also, Carl has a newspaper that he’s reading to pass the time. Next to him is a door and its frame. Everywhere else is a frozen, snow-covered terrain.
Maybe these photos hold some clues to Carl’s identity.

Does this look familiar?

What about this one?

Is this paper sold everywhere?

What do you think??
