In Season 4 of Star Trek: Discovery, the crew faces a powerful cosmic threat causing catastrophic destruction across the galaxy known as the Dark Matter Anomaly or the DMA. This phenomenon destroys Kwejian, Book’s home planet, taking his family, culture, and hope from him. Star Trek: Discovery S4, E10 – “The Galactic Barrier”

In “The Galactic Barrier” we see the Discovery embark on a critical first contact mission beyond the edge of known space. Reaching out to engage the 10-C becomes more important when its discovered that this new, more powerful DMA has repositioned itself in the Alpha Quadrant near the Earth and Ni’Var. But will their mission be seen as a peaceful attempt to connect with a stranger or will it be considered a hostile act? Also, will Captain Burnham and President Rillak be able to develop their own lines of communication as they figure the best way to lead this mission?
